Not A Good Morning

About 20 minutes after Gus left for work this morning I began to feed Trudi. As I was nursing her Heidi decided to get into the walker. I don't allow her to get in it, but even if I told her to get out she would need my help, which I was unable to do. So once I had finished feeding Trudi, I made it my next move to get Heidi out of the walker. At that time she was standing straight up in the walker, making it come to her waste as she tried to look out the window. When I was about to get off the couch to go for her she pushed herself away from the window. All at once the weight of her little body caused the walker to throw her forward, making her dive into the wooden floor like a fish. At the same time her feet came out of the walker and went up in the air with the dive. She was able to spot herself with her hands but she hit her face hard, really hard.

My heart literally stopped. I saw my daughter almost break her neck. But I also knew she was in a lot of pain from the way she was crying with her face down on the floor. Not having anywhere to put Trudi at that time, I held her in one arm and picked up Heidi with my two hands. Before I turned Heidi around so that I could see her face I saw the globs of blood on the ground. Heidi held her mouth as she cried. I tried to get a look at it as I wiped the blood away with a kleenex. I didn't panic whatsoever, knowing that you can have the slightest cut and there will be a lot of blood. As I continued to look for the cause of blood, my heart stopped when I found it. She had busted her chin open. Surprisingly she stopped crying, which helped my aching heart.

I immediately called Gus and he left work right away. There was so much blood over Heidi and me that I had to stick her in the tub and put fresh clothes on her so that she could go to the emergency room. I had Gus take her without me. It would be too difficult to be there in the waiting room with a fussy baby and I wouldn't be able to take having to watch my daughter scream for me as they stitch her up.

She's doing really good now. Actually happy. The only thing she doesn't like is her band aid.
